Mason has been playing guitar and writing songs since he was 11 years old. Music has always been a big influence in Mason's life, whether listening to the Beatles, Eagles and America, singing in the High School Choir or playing on the weekends in local rock bands. Later Mason moved to Monroe, Louisiana to attend Northeast Louisiana University, where he met Wyatt Webb and Kelly Kemp. They played in a band called "Why Not?" at local bars and fraternity parties.
